Time: Bus departs at 8am, Tour starts at 9.45 am

Location: City of Greater Geelong Compost Facility, 400 Stacey’s Rd, Anakie

As part of your booking you must indicate pick up/travel option, limited bus seats are available ( A special thank you to Sustainability Victoria for providing bus for this event) 

Please ensure you have appropriate clothing including a jacket, sunglasses, hat and sturdy footwear.

Event Overview

Join us for an insightful tour to learn more about organic waste management, and a new lucrative agricultural use for compost that can deliver more profit for farmers and a vibrant market for organics processors

Site 1: City of Greater Geelong Compost Facility, 400 Stacey’s Rd, Anakie

Visit the City of Greater Geelong Compost Facility, where you will learn about cutting-edge composting methods, including the Hot Rot food waste composters, and gain insight into managing large-scale organic waste.

 

Site 2: Poplar Grove, 1025 Dickens Road Freshwater Creek

Owned and operated by innovative farmer Simon Falkiner, Poplar Grove hosts subsoil amelioration trial sites and novel subsoil amelioration farm machinery.  See how, with support from Sustainability Victoria, subsoil amelioration is becoming a profitable option for farmers and a sustainable market for compost producers.

 

BBQ lunch and networking

Network with industry peers and speakers after they address the group with updates in sustainable farming practices and composting technology.

Whether you’re a sustainability professional, an agronomist, or simply passionate about reducing waste and improving soil health, this event will give you practical knowledge and insights to apply in your field.
